The M.H. Saboo Siddik College of Engineering, Byculla now known for many years to produce some of the best Automobile engineers in the country started its SAE western chapter on the 6th of November, 2001 when it established its very own SAE Collegiate club under the SAEINDIA Western Section and the aegis of SAE International.
The college conducts an annual technical festival called ‘Automotivation’ that is unique to this side of the country which sees participation from all colleges in Mumbai and around. The event that is the most spectacular is the rally which is conducted under permission from the Motorsport Authority of India (MAI). SAEINDIA supports the event by publicizing it and also supporting it.
The college and the club rightfully takes credit for the past three years of sending students to the BAJA SAEINDIA series that eggs undergraduate and graduate engineering students from all colleges and universities in India to design and build a prototype of a rugged, single seat, off-road recreational vehicle while the Formula SAE, an internationally accredited student competition that invites undergraduate engineering students to conceive, design, fabricate and compete with small, formula style, autocross vehicles. These events are all conducted under the watchful guidance of SAE International that supports colleges and helps them with networking with other like minded people under the SAE Collegiate club.
